The University has a full-fledged Department of Physical Education with a Director
and a team of qualified coaches in various games. There are spacious outdoor plying
fields at the campus, where inter-college and inter-university sports competitions
are organised with a view to encourage the students in various ways to participate
in sports activities of their choice.
The University Grants Commission has set up a nodal centre in the Department of
Physical Educational with a view to foster the spirit of adventure sports in the
universities and Colleges in Northern india. university of Kashmir has now become
a facility Centre for the following adventure sports:
- Ice-Sking
- Ski-montaineering
- Mountaineering
- Water Sking
- Kayaking and canoeing
- Aqua Para shooting
- White Water Rafting
Any bonafide student of a college and university can take part in the training programmes
run by the Nodal Centre.
